ASAAS

Rojeh Khleif, known as ASAAS أساس, is a pivotal figure in the underground music scene and a multifaceted cultural organiser. Since starting his journey in 2010, he has co-founded the Jazar Crew, an influential collective of Palestinian DJs that organises parties and events in Haifa, Ramallah, and Berlin. His work is rooted in using art as resistance and fostering cultural creativity for social and personal development. As the founder of the Harara music label and the ASAAS show on Radio alHara, Khleif champions أساس electronic sounds from the Global South. His DJ sets explore technological spirituality, blending deep and hypnotic techno and house music with breaks, featuring influences from Detroit techno producers to local Palestinian artists. Performing across Europe and Africa, Khleif has performed at Fusion Festival, Nuits Sonores, and the Amsterdam Dance Event, and has played notable sets for Boiler Room, Mixmag, and NTS Live in London. In April 2019 he performed with Underground Resistance in Vienna and has hosted international artists like Nicolas Jaar, Jamie xx, Chancha Vía Circuito, DJ Jus-Ed, Yasmine Hamdan, Alsarah & The Nubatones, and many more, organising tours and the renowned Boiler Room event in Palestine. Additionally, he has organised queer parties “Goys & Birls” and “Queeri Awi” in Palestine with the Aswat organisation. Khleif has also organised events in Berlin and, now based in Ghana, co-owns the Jamestown boutique venue, hosting local and international artists. Beyond music, he founded the Haifa Independent Film Festival, showcasing his dedication to diverse cultural expression.
