About the artist

Carlos do Complexo

Carlos do Complexo was born and raised in Complexo do Engenho da Rainha, in Rio de Janeiro and has established himself as one of the most brilliant producers of this generation. CDC, as it is also known, is constantly experimenting with the sounds of Electronic, R&B, Funk Carioca, African music, among others. Carlos' artistic desires are echoed by the synthesizers in sum and, at times, out of tune, transporting the listener to a singular and aggressive place. His influence began in 2015, when the artist was a precursor to the now popular Brazilian trap/funk aesthetic. The track “Satisfação 6am Version” opened doors for partnerships with North American producer Sango, with whom he released four collaborations on the Soulection label. Since then, he has worked with important artists such as Silva, Tuyo, BK, Fran, Duda Beat and Sen Senra.

In 2020, he released his debut album “Shani”, which Carlos defines as “a mystical journey”. The following year, he released his second album “Torus”, in which the artist continues his journey with out- of-tune synthesizers and unorthodox sounds while talking about his perception of the internet world. In 2021, the artist also released the track "Visceral" in partnership with Fran and Bibi Caetano, nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Short Version Music Video" category. No Tengas Miedo (NTGM) it’s Carlos do Complexo third studio album, in which he performs Latin rhythms based on Afro-surrealist symbolism. NTGM brings brilliant collaborations from the Brazilian music scene, which offer a panoramic view of current Brazilian electronic music, adding a layer of diversity and originality.
