KURO SOUNDS: A BEACHSIDE CELEBRATION OF AFRICA AND THE AFRO-DIASPORIC
Africa and the Diaspora to convene for an exploration of Music, Art and Community on Ghana’s breathtaking coastline.
On January 11, 2025, Kokrobite Beach will transform into a continental node of sound, art and connection for the inaugural edition of Kuro Sounds, bringing together diverse audiences and creative scenes from Africa & the Diaspora.
Inspired by the Akan word Kuro (pronounced /ku-raw/), meaning “town” or “community,” Kuro Sounds is a pioneering music and arts event dedicated to uniting Africa’s creative forces with the global Afro-diasporic community. Co-created by Jam Jar, Vibrate Space and Oroko Radio, Kuro Sounds embodies the spirit of community, innovation and celebration that defines contemporary African culture.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Cutting Edge Performances: A live headliner performance TBA soon, a diverse electronic DJ lineup and artists representing the boldest voices from Africa and the Diaspora. Cultural Showcases: From skateboarding to surfing to DIY art, the festival embraces the energy and freedom of youth subcultures. Immersive Art: Interactive installations highlighting Africa’s creativity and global cultural influence. Panels & Screenings: Thought provoking panels and film premieres from the community. Fashion Pop-Ups: Local and world renowned streetwear and high fashion brands from Ghana.
