With OkayHlengi

Welcome to 303: The Sit Down – where we pull back the curtain on the underground dance music community that's reshaping Johannesburg's cultural landscape. I'm your host OkayHlengi, and this is the latest iteration of the 303 radio residency, where we get up close and personal with the prolific figures both in front of and behind the scenes.

Our name, 303, pays homage to the Roland TB-303, a repurposed piece of music technology that Black communities transformed into the foundation of acid house and techno. Like that revolutionary instrument, we're about amplifying voices that transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

For three years, our event series and radio show have been bridging Johannesburg and Accra, creating spaces where Black, queer, and POC artists can truly be heard. Now, with The Sit Down, we're diving deeper into the stories, struggles, and triumphs of the people who make our underground dance community vibrate with possibility. Today's guest Mzii is part of this movement – where every beat drops like an act of revolution, and every story adds to our collective history. This is 303: The Sit Down, where the underground rises up.
