Opening this sonic journey with experimental, and meditative textures from [MONRHEA], unfolding over the first 7 minutes. Hip-hop elements surface with Papoose’s Flashback — a track she once mistook for Jay-Z :) — and Otha Fish by The Pharcyde. Woven in is one of her favorite empowering reggae anthems, "Where I'm Coming From" by Lila Ike. The journey then builds momentum into the darker edges of Drum and Bass, before circling back to the abstract world of experimental sound.
With Guest: [MONRHEA] is an international experimental sound artist who emerges as a distinctive artistic voice from Nairobi, Kenya. Pan African Magazine recognizes her as a rare female artist at the center of Nairobi’s underground music scene. Often incorporating tools like the live coding software Sonic Pi and exploring different sides of electronic music to create immersive audio experiences (Resident Advisor), her work delves into deep introspection and soulful experimentation, earning her acclaim as a progressive music artist and creative technologist.
She has performed internationally in the U.S.A. and Europe, and was a keynote speaker at the Ubiquitous Music Conference (U.K.), invited for her use of creative technology. She is also part of the programming committee for East Africa’s first music and technology innovation hub, Kilele Summit.
