Audio Archives: Oroko Radio & Carhartt WIP

With Araba.OA

Audio Archives is a global project by Carhartt WIP, encompassing a printed publication, a capsule collection, and a worldwide program of radio broadcasts and events.

The initiative celebrates over 15 years of Carhartt WIP Radio, while paying tribute to the cultural impact of community radio today.

Carhartt WIP Radio launched in 2008, during the transition from traditional FM broadcasting to the digital sphere. The concept was simple: an artist or label playing their own music, accompanied by an interview. The format has endured ever since, with contributors from Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

Audio Archives expands on this idea by fostering connections through music. For the first time, the project brings together 17 independent radio stations worldwide under one collaborative initiative, amplifying local voices on a global scale.

As part of the program, participating community radio stations will host events and broadcasts in their cities between March and April — accessible both live and online.
