Cue the Q invites KBRAL

With Amowia

CUE the Q, hosted by Amowia, is a radio show that centers queer DJs and the sounds that move our communities.

Each episode features a DJ sharing their story, where they’re from, what they’ve lived, and how music holds them, followed by a mix that brings their city, their roots, and their vision to the dancefloor.

This show was created to amplify the voices that often get pushed to the margins, especially trans, queer, BIPOC, and FLINTA artists. It’s about sound as memory, rhythm as resistance, and nightlife as something deeply political and deeply joyful.

For this second episode, we travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a city full of rhythm, resistance, and raw queer energy, with DJ Kabral. Born and raised in the Baixada Fluminense, Kabral’s sound moves through funk carioca, ballroom beats, and more. He brings us deep into Rio, its dancefloors, its heat, its power.

  • Welcome to Rio de Janeiro. Welcome to my world.

  • Bem-vindes ao Rio de Janeiro. Bem-vindes ao meu mundo.

With Guest: KBRAL is a DJ, music producer, and above all, a product of the Baixada Fluminense.

His sound offers a true journey through the electronic rhythms of the world's peripheries. With sets characterized by versatility and the ability to explore a wide range of genres, he uses funk carioca as his main tool for experimentation. He also stands out in the ballroom community, performing as a DJ at balls and bringing the unique flair of the Brazilian ballroom scene. His blend of vogue beats and jersey club with funk carioca results in a distinctive and striking sound.

Throughout his career, Kbral has had the honor of sharing stages with renowned artists from both the national and international music scenes. His sets have featured singers like Kelela and Ebony. He has played back-to-back with Larinhx, Evehive, and other names from the alternative music scene. In addition, Kbral has had the opportunity to open shows for other artists, including the group Baiana System during the UNE festival and, more recently, at the closing of Marina Sena’s “Vício Inerente” tour.

The artist doesn’t limit himself to national stages, already being a familiar face in the European summer and on dance floors in countries like Portugal, France, Germany, and Spain—always bringing his unmistakable Brazilian flavor. He has performed at events such as the Baile Trama Summer Festival in Berlin and at the electronic music club Outracena in Lisbon.
