- Mixed by M'du-Scabha - Unticipated soundz - has been a pioneering group of producers at the dawn of a new era, pushing the boundaries of the sound and culture of Gqom. Founded in 2016 by (Sandile Mntambo) “Mr BEATS” with the love and passion for this sound, he created a space where other young producers could learn the art of beat making, and to express and shape their own unique individual sounds within the collective. M’du-Scabha started making music at the age of 16. He made sure to produce music every single day, and shortly after joined pioneering Gqom crew/collective “Unticipated Soundz”. Unticipated soundz originated a sub-genre of Gqom music called uThayela, meaning “corrugated iron”. This name came to be about, because this sound would quite literally shake the roof, due to uThayela’s characterized rougher and bass heavy sounds. In 2017, a specific style of Gqom was even named after them, called "UntiStyle". The group became infamous at street clashes called “Explosions”, which uses taxi’s as a means to have soundclashes, at afterparties and events. Here they were nicknamed “UntiChicks” and became well known all around the world for their unique sound and style. They have collaborated with well known artists such as DJ Lag. They produced and recorded the song “Amanikiniki” which has even been nominated for a Grammy Award. Some of their other hits have been “Gqomu Lomantshingelani” and “Skibha Sabrovo”. Unticipated Soundz has proven to have played a big role in shaping the contemporary sound of Gqom, and aims to stay and push the raw, uncut and unfiltered sound to the rest of the world. You won’t be able to sit still with this highly rhythmic sound.
