A picture tells a thousand songs. Future Memories is part factual, part imagined as Kem Kem uses a curated image as the jump off point for her sonic explorations in each episode. In this episode, we take a look at a photograph of her as a baby and explore a range of her musical influences and how each song makes her feel. Kem Kem is a multi-disciplinary artist and DJ based in London catalogue takes listeners on a sonic journey weaving between cultures and time. She performed her first DJ set whilst studying Philosophy at Stanford University, California. Her love for music was cultivated by endless nights as a child listening to her fathers record collection in Lagos, Nigeria.

She has performed at festivals, concerts and museums across three continents - Africa, Europe and North America - and opened for artists such as Tems, Princess Nokia, Skepta. She is one out of four of a women-led creative collective “No Fronting”hosting inclusive parties and immersive experiences in London and Lagos. Kem Kem plays an eclectic mix of Hip Hop, Dancehall, Baile Funk, Afrofunk, Drill, Amapiano, Afrobeat, Dance and Electronic.

Her original compositions have been played on the runway of Copenhagen Fashion Week 2022. She also crafts sound design for film, most notably for her film Guardian Angel, which was commissioned by and debuted at the Institute of Contemporary Art London in 2022.She recently completed a two-week artist residency as at the Arts Residency Centre in Gaborone, Botswana as their first international resident.
