Back Back from Front back….
“Making the house” is back with an exclusive from Ghana to LDN edition to hold space & have a trip through memory lane. After meeting the lovely artists, Eli, Em, Araba and Jess in Ghana during our art residency, “Club Secrets”,last April, with @prohelvetiajohanesberg, we decided to keep the energy flowing and invite them over to our @orokoradio show for a conversation to create and to continue nourishing our connexion…
Reporting live from London, we wanted to hold space for the experiences of their return to their diasporic “Houses-Homes” after our collective experience of “Club Secrets” but mostly after spending time harnessing their craft these last 6 months.
Our show is a testimony of our politic of care & also an opportunity to see how we collectively continued to “care” for each after being dispatched around the diasporic world. We also wanted to catch up on their plans for this winter on the continent to see how we can continue to align forces and sustain our creative fire: What’s in store for us, how can we organise our experiences collectively to harness more efficiency and support when it comes to our projects & projections of our collective future.
What’s the gist? Back Back from Frontback is the pre-party talk serving the tea and serving it “warm”.
We are a collective of multi-dimensional afro-descendant artists who desire to provide a platform where we can share our creative world through the medium of sonic & visual story-telling.
We are ZAGAZA: a network of Black women performance & visual artists stemming from the African continent. Based in Swiss Romandie, we ground our artistry in the Black collective art consciousness. Our desire is to curate sensory experiences that entice our communities through the merging of mixed art forms and the development of a greater network of QTBiPOC artists with whom we can co-create platforms & spaces to enrich community life & sustain cultural relevant and inclusive events.
We want to hold space to pay hommage & celebrate the artists, communities and cultures that paved the way for us to exist as gifted and B L A C K.
We believe that it is our responsibility to be the vanguards of our culture and take space as representatives of traditions that resource us endlessly.
