This week I am joined by Head Honcho of Ekolectro, Tigran who just delivered their 14th Edition of the 2 day electronic music festival. T jumped on after I played at 9am in the morning to the sound of the Atlantic slapping the beach, his minimal set struck a chord with me, and I had to have him join my listeners and take them on a journey.
As always we are here to celebrate the community, the music and the motherland.
With Guest: Tigran Letov (Tigran Sound) is a DJ/Producer/Instrumentalist who creates fusions with live, organic and electronic sounds that are free-formed yet structured to make you groove. His unique approach to production draws on the concept of contrast, resulting in a standout analog sound that can be heard across his take on house, techno & psychedelic music. He's one of the first and key pioneers of underground electronic music in Nigeria, where he organizes the festival, Ekolectro, which is part of a now-booming community in Lagos.
Tigran's sound can be described as cinematic, evoking his listener's sense of emotions from various angles and colour palettes, varying from track to track. Performing every instrument in his records himself, his flexibility allows him to dig deep. Some of these instruments are; Drums, Analog Synthesizers, Keys, Guitar, Bass, Clarinet and Vocals.
Tigran was born in Russia/Uzbekistan but moved with his mother to Nigeria at the age of 5, where he quickly adapted and grew amongst various traditional influences involving African rhythms, drums and chants.
