VEXED!

With fat-lïp

I am a Black womxn and I am angry (vexed) and good music is the only therapy I can afford. Tune in for discussions through music and speech on the state of global Black diasporic identity centred on how music connects us all.

The VEXED Series by fat-lïp aims to celebrate, identify and acknowledge the many sounds of the Global Black Diaspora. This show aims to achieve this by engaging in thought, audio and music soundscape which will encapsulate all these aspects.

This week focuses on the term "Black British"- The question posed was "What does being Black British mean to you? Do you even relate to the term? Do you reject it whats your general thoughts?"

With Guest: Shane Sutherland, a London-based visual artist of Jamaican descent, transcends artistic boundaries to celebrate the Black subject, particularly at the intersection of queerness. Their work explores nuanced themes of global Black identity through photography, film, new media and 3D. Under the moniker 'SHANECORE', they DJ with a focus on music from the global Black diaspora, blending Caribbean sounds of dancehall and soca with queer anthems and sounds from the ballroom/vogue scene. Through mixing these genres, they aim to create a space for Black bodies to move beyond dichotomies, challenging societal norms through music and art.
