About the artist
OC George is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and creative director. His work spans new media, drawing, and conceptual art.
Born to an Igbo father and raised by a Yoruba mother, his formative years were riddled with the questions of ‘place’ and steeped in cultural juxtapositions that today inform his practice. George’s work explores the riddles of the human condition. His expressionist compositions shift through mediums and spaces with gestural simplicity that is poignantly topographic; relaying disjointed forms and surreal dreamscapes that juggle sociopolitical and psychological themes such as class struggle, existentialism, mental health, and faith.
George's work has been shown in group exhibitions including 'At Once, Then Again: Selections from Practice' - Rele Gallery, 'ATO Connects' - Art Twenty-One Gallery, Impart Artists Fair; and featured in 'Diafano Magazine' - Barcelona, 'Haloscope Magazine' - USA, and 'see-zeen'. He holds a BA in Creative Arts from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
