Heard Radio invites Madre Guía

SUGAR DRUM - This mix is messy, manic, and full of core-hitting bass. It was recorded during a time when I was incredibly sleep deprived and desperately wanting to stay connected to my body. By fearlessly navigating a variety of Black sonic terrains, I guide my listeners through a maze of friction meant to stimulate the body into action.

With Guest: Madre Guía is a queer Afro-Caribbean multidisciplinary artist from The Bronx, New York (unceded Munsee Lenape territory). Her deep connection to movement and the Black origins of dance music ignite her DJ sets with seductive percussion that invokes catharsis on the dancefloor. She works with movement and electronic music production to decode ancestral wisdom and knowledge stored in the body. Weaving together queer Afro-Caribbean diasporic experiences with improvisation and play, Madre Guía harnesses her spirit-rooted offerings as alchemical tools for liberatory transformation.
