Others argue that Kenyan music just isn’t up to par. Mizizi (Swahili for roots), attempts to respond to this critique by showcasing music exclusively from Kenyan artists and the Kenyan diaspora in all its forms—whether it's original tracks, collaborations, productions, remixes, or any other contribution by a Kenyan.

Mizizi argues that there isn't just one "Kenyan sound" —because being a Kenyan artist, in itself, is an answer to what Kenyan music is: diverse, creative, and just pure gas.
