RBG Radio

With VINSON

In the first installment of RBG Radio, VINSON gives a personal introduction to his latest listening habits. From regional favorites from Detroit and Chicago, with a few deep cuts mixed in.

RBG Radio is an open format radio hour hosted by VINSON. The RBG radio show plans to thoughtfully communicate modern expressions of Black American counter culture and its connections to the African diaspora. Based in Los Angeles, by way of Detroit, VINSON aims to create a platform for left field and eclectic Hip-Hop, R&B and electronic music artists to share their work and their thoughts. Prepare for anything from interviews, commentary, guest DJ mixes and unreleased work from some of the best-kept secrets music has to offer.

Brenton Vinson, also known as VINSON, is a recording artist, producer and songwriter from Detroit, now based in Los Angeles, California. As a vocalist, rapper, and producer, his music integrates many influences found in Detroit's rich musical history from raw underground hip-hop, soul, house and techno. VINSON also draws inspiration from his family's involvement in Detroit's musical history with one great uncle being the lead singer of the iconic Motown singing group "The Four Tops" and the other singing for both "The Falcons" and "The Contours". His debut project, U and Me at 3:03 includes a blend of deep house, hip-hop and futuristic soul and was featured in the new and notable section of the Bandcamp.com homepage. He has performed in support of hip-hop and soul artists such as Ghostface Killah, Goapele, DUCKWRTH and more. Also on his resume are official showcase performances at both SXSW in Austin, Texas and AC3 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2021, a remix EP of U and me at 3:03 will showcase remixes from electronic music producers such as AshTreJinkins, Russell E.L. Butler and Benedek. VINSON plans to follow up this release with a project entitled "Loose Rap" in fall 2021 which will be a postmodern interpretation of both boom bap hip-hop and neo-soul genres.
