West African Wave

With Carina Tenewaa Kanbi

Carina Tenewaa rides the West African Wave this February with a focus on Accra with special guest Kobi Onyame. This months show highlights Ghanaian musicians near and far. The bi-monthly West African Wave explore everything creative in different West African cities hearing from the voices of those who live there. Come ride the wave.

Special Guest: Kobi Onyame is a Ghanaian independent recording artist, producer and songwriter. Described by OkayAfrica magazine as "the UK hip-hop game's unintentional preacher of sunny vibes…”, his music is a vibrant spectacle that draws heavily on African culture — both sonically and visually. “Kobi”, an acronym for his real name whilst “Onyame”, the Akan word meaning God, says the pseudonym acts as a constant reminder of his faith and to remind him to take God with him everywhere he goes.

Carina is an Accra-based curator and founder of African Urban Alternatives and co-founder of AYA Editions and Where Are the Womxn. All creative ventures focus on supporting creative career paths, empowering women and building liveable, equitable cities for all.
