THE CROSSOVER features the hottest artists, producers & DJs from Africa and our co-creators at Bridges Academy, creating new sounds that break from international trends, blending the east with the west, and the north with the south while maintaining African roots and local beats. Produced and presented by co-creators at the Bridges for Music Academy in Langa, South Africa, a melting pot of exciting and refreshing African dance music made by tomorrow's talents.

Special Guests: Sange Nyala is a 26 year old from Cape Town. From making deep house playlists , she has quickly gained a small following. Since being at Bridges Academy she has quickly learned her way behind the decks ! Expect new sounds from the South African deep house scene.

Athie Umgido is one half of the duo UMGIDO a producer, vocalists and DJ's hailing from East London, and currently based in Cape Town. He is a Resident DJ and also producer on #TheHouseConnect on 5FM, putting on a lot of South Africa's unheard talent. Athie has recently partnered with Paradise on their imprint "Umgido" showcasing Africa's talent to the world. He has worked with the likes of Busiswa, Moonchild, Okmalumkoolkat, Bhar to name a few. One of his songs was recently number one Oskido's Top 5 on Metro FM, his latest release "Pressure" is number one on Boomplay Afro House Mix and Number 2 on The House Connect Top 5. He has been featured numerous times on Gagasi FM and Ukhozi FM. One of his songs was nominated for the Dance Music Awards South Africa, under the category Best Gqom Record of the Year, for two years running. Athie has a song on the way with Sho Madjozi which promises to be a global sensation. Athie is also dropping a single with DJ Tira & Mshunqisi later this year. One of his songs has recently been featured on Netflix new series "Jaiva". Busiswa made an honorary mention during her SAMA AWARDS 24 acceptance speech for Best Kwaito Album, which he co-produced. Athie has performed in numerous festivals around South Africa and has shared the stage with most national artists including Floyd Lavine, Themba, Black Coffee, DJ Tira and Reelsoul (U.S.A), to mention a few. This year Athie recently performed on numerous festivals including ROCKING THE DAISIES, Bazique, Wolfkop to mention a few.


Bridges for Music is a non profit organisation focused on empowering young talent from under-served communities to become creative change-makers, providing 21st century- tools and equipping them with the psychosocial and entrepreneurial skills to thrive in the creative industries.

Through our schools, like the Bridges Academy in Langa, we provide safe spaces and holistic learning programs to enhance the creative potential of young people at-risk and facilitating their access to income generating opportunities. Employing a methodology rooted in “Self Determination Theory”, we develop resilient, self-aware, and self-efficacious agents of change who are able to transcend the cycles of poverty and trauma that circumscribe them and their communities.
