Come with me as I take you back to the 80s growing up in Uganda we had music around us everywhere and fun for us little kids dancing around, making up lyrics for songs we didn’t know/understand without a care in the world.
Despite the civil wars going on and all the unfortunate times (this Sony record player in this picture was commandeered by a looting soldier at gunpoint in the mid 80s) we listen to some songs from that moment in time, there are a couple newer tracks but the commonality is that they have all been used as references/influences for Africans/Africans in Diaspora. In short, sampling.
