About the artist

[kevinindafield]

[kevinindafield] is an electronic music project created by non-binary Sudanese producer, DJ, radio host and sound engineer, Ahmed Abbas. Based on playfulness, it aims to reflect early nostalgic childhood influences through the exploration of different realms of music. A melting pot of footwork, juke, jungle, grime, rave and bass combined with a foundation in diasporic heritage and Afro-futuristic roots, [kevinindafield] is not one to shy away from bringing an abundance of energy.

Playing a key role in amplifying the sounds of jungle, footwork and beyond within South Africa, their DJ sets and radio shows shine a limelight on lesser-known artists in the scene. Advocating for lineups and spaces that promote inclusivity (An ethos that carries through all of their work and contributions) through curating musical programmes for local platforms such as The Other Radio and Kulture Lab. They have been involved in exceptional lineups for events and radio broadcasts including Search Festival, Noods Radio, The Death of Glitter and Modular. Coupled with music releases for Juke MX, Body Tools International, Vaporscape Records and Rose Bonica’s imprint, Roses Are Red.
