For this episode of “Making the House”, we are broadcasting live from Montreal, Canada, in the home of the multidimensional creator, DJ, producer, visual artist & photographer, Molimo, exploring the depths of their DJ origin stories with their mix “Toleka”.

Their offering is a sonic journey through soundscapes of becoming by merging their Congo-basin roots & intertwining them with the currents of Afro electronic music that move & inspire her artistry. Part of our co-creation process, mediated with me MC BALA BALA, a once-Montreal native, is an ode to recollection and collective memory work, moving to the sounds and commentary that have nurtured our musical, political praxis & aesthetic as artists and also creative partners.

With Guest: MOLIMO is a Congolese artist based in Montreal. They're a doula and photographer, DJ and a serial hobbyist. Camera in hand they enjoy capturing the moment, kinship, connection and everyday life. Creating playlists is a love language. Their sonic aesthetic is guided by their diasporic and Congolese heritage.
