This is a soundtrack (+comments) with flute, n’goni, poetry and field recordings I made for an exhibition happening on Friday, May 17th at Le Manège Gallery in Dakar, Senegal. ‘Comme un œil qui voudrait voir’ - The eye that wants to see. Curated by Olivia Marsaud and Franck Hermann Ekkra.

I’ve been working with the visual artist Carla Gueye between Paris and Dakar, she inspires me to truly express how I felt. About the sounds, all the sounds. The ones that are far away but yet the ones who hypnotize my ears. Most of the time, I hear you but I’m listening to the sounds of the surrounding environment. We can be talking but I would hear the radio from downstairs, the street vendors' conversations, the animals yawning as clear as our conversation.

This composition is called “Joola Dream”. I was mesmerized by Thionk Essyl, located in Casamance, South West of Senegal. I got hypnotized by the trees, I felt this land is sacred.
